The Newspaper Marketing Agency (NMA) has announced a significant expansion of its team, with the appointment of former Mindshare Worldwide managing partner Nigel Bromley to the key role of senior marketing manager.
Bromley will help the NMA forge a close working relationship media planners and agencies in an attempt to promote national newspapers to advertisers. He has over twenty years experience in the advertising industry and prior to joining Mindshare was European account director at J. Walter Thompson.
Commenting on the appointment, Maureen Duffy, chief executive of the NMA, said: “Nigel’s understanding of the market will be a real asset to the NMA in building its relationship with the advertising industry. The fact that we have been able to attract a candidate of this calibre demonstrates the impact that the NMA has already had.”
Bromley added: “National newspaper advertising is a diverse medium with real impact and enormous potential. I look forward to working with the industry in developing growth opportunities going forward”.
Former BBC journalist, Andrew Cock, has also appointed to oversee the launch of the NMA’s new website, which is due to be unveiled later this later this month as key communications tool for the organisation.
The NMA recently unveiled its first corporate identity and is expected to release the results of an extensive consultation exercise, involving 150 interviews with national newspaper owners, advertisers and clients shortly (see NMA Unveils First Corporate Identity).
The latest figures from the Advertising Association show that the national newspaper industry saw adspend decline by 2.4% year on year during the first quarter of 2003 (see War In Iraq Slows Growth In UK Adspend).
