North-West Gets New Sunday Sports Paper
A new regional Sunday sports paper is to be launched by the Manchester Evening News. The first edition of the Sunday Pink will be on sale across the north-west on 20 August to coincide with the Premiership football season kick-off.
Priced at 50p, it offers in-depth sports coverage from throughout the region, and will cover smaller clubs often ignored by the national Sunday press as well as the high profile teams in the area. Popular amateur sports will also be given a focus.
Paul Horrocks, editor of the Sunday Pink, said: “Manchester is the most successful sporting city in Europe, and our research tells us there is a good market for a sports-based Sunday available across the region.”
In pre-launch research, 85% of those questioned welcomed the idea of a Sunday sports paper for the region and most of those said they would buy it each week during the football season.
