NTL Appoints Senior Executive To Two Way TV Board

NTL has made its most senior UK director a member of the board of Two Way TV, a company in which NTL owns a 48% stake. Stephen Carter, managing director of NTL, will represent NTL’s interest in the interactive broadcaster’s development as part of his role as non-executive director. Carter also be working with NTL’s chief financial officer, John Gregg, and vice president of corporate finance and development, Bret Richter.

Two Way TV, which is carried on NTL’s digital network, broadcasts interactive games and quizzes, which are soon set to include interactive versions of A Question of Sport, Mastermind, Fifteen to One and The Crystal Maze. The channel claims to achieve a daily reach of 4% and is planning the launch of “enhanced” TV programmes during this year. These will allow viewers to play along with broadcast programmes.

During the last few months Two Way TV has managed to broker several content and distribution deals, including a deal with ITV sport (see Two Way TV Announces Sports Deal With ITV) which allows viewers to make predictions and action calls during live sports events.

Carter was recruited to work at NTL from J Walter Thompson’s UK Group, where he was CEO. His current role includes the running of day-to-day operations of NTL’s broadcast, telecoms and consumer divisions.
