NTL, the broadcast transmissions and telecommunications company, gave a taste of the future with a complete end-to-end digital television broadcast over the whole of Greater London. The multichannel demonstration included widescreen pictures, data services, an access system for pay-TV, and an on-screen Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) all used with decoders for television sets.
NTL believe that British terrestrial television is the best in the world and with the introduction of digital television, it will be able to compete with satellite and cable. NTL also acknowledge that entering the digital television market quickly is also important for success against the competition.
