NTL Wins Saga Broadcast Contract

The first analogue transmissions of the over-50s radio station Saga Radio will be going out via NTL Broadcast, after the group won the transmission contract.

Ron Coles, managing director of Saga Radio, commented: “We are extremely pleased to have NTL’s experience to call on, and very excited about gaining our first analogue licence.”

While this West Midlands licence is the first analogue licence gained by Saga, it already broadcasts a national digital service, PrimeTime Radio (see Over 50s Get National Radio Station), along with digital services in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The Saga West Midlands licence covers Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall and the surrounding areas, along with parts of Warwickshire and Staffordshire. The adult population of the area is 3.4 million, of which 41% fall into Saga’s target age group of 50+.
