There is press speculation that Nynex and TeleWest, Britain’s two largest cable operators, are set to merge in a deal worth £2 billion. This was provoked by the apparent flurry of meetings between share-holders of both companies in the US. A spokesman for Nynex would not comment on the rumours.
…Another press speculation is that Carlton Communications is in negotiations with Mirror Group about taking over advertising sales for L!ve TV. Carlton would not confirm this.
