O2 has hired Shaun Gregory, former chief executive of mobile network Blyk, as managing director of its new media business.
Gregory will be responsible for the overall media strategy at O2, as well as building mobile ad opportunities for brands when he takes up his role on March 1, according to reports.
O2 hopes Gregory’s appointment will help the business to “fundamentally change the way advertisers target and reach consumers in a very personalised environment”.
He will report directly to Tim Sefton, the senior vice-president of strategy and development for the O2 group.
O2 launched its media business last year in a bid to provide advertisers with targeted marketing opportunities across its various channels, including mobile, online and email.
Gregory, who left Blyk last month, previously worked as a new media director at The Telegraph Media Group and as a board director for Emap.
