Mohamed Al Fayed’s latest offer for the Observer was rejected yesterday by the Scott Trust, owners of the Guardian Media Group. The Trust met to discuss the second offer by Mr Al Fayed, this time up by £10m to £25m.
Guardian Media Group issued a statement saying that the company secretary had been instructed to write to Liberty Publishing, owned by Mr Al Fayed, to confirm that the Observer remains an important and dynamic part of the group.
