Observer Sunday Launch

Observer Sunday Launch

At a conference held this morning for the advertisers of the Observer details were revealed about the new sections and future intentions for the paper.

The new sections were outlined; the main broadsheet will continue plus 5 extra pages, and the Business section will expand by at least 16 pages, including non-specialist pages to make the section more accessible.

Sports pages will no longer be on the back of the business, but in a separate tabloid section. The News Review tabloid section will focus more heavily on the Arts. There will be two magazines. Life, a consumer style guide with food, travel gardening and TV highlights, with a “down to earth” feel, and The Magazine which will have longer features and quality writing and photography.

David Brook, marketing director, said that these changes are not final, but merely the start of a long-term commitment to improvements, and that the Observer will remain true to its liberal position.

The new sections launch this Sunday 26 and there will be a full review on MediaTel on Monday.
