October Admissions Fall 15% On Last Year
Cinema admission figures for the month of October show a big decrease year on year, down by 15.3%, making the average weekly admission 2.69 million. The figure for 1994 was well over 3 million.
However, the decrease is somewhat misleading due to a rather exceptional month for releases last October. These included Disney’s The Lion King, Forrest Gump, Speed and The Client; this October’s biggest releases were Pocahontas and Mortal Kombat. This year’s October’s average weekly admissions were actually an improvement on September’s figures, up by 13%.
The total admissions figures for October were 11.9 million, compared to 10.2m in September and 14m last October.
