OFT To Investigate Times

The Labour party has requested that the Office of Fair Trading should investigate the decision to cut the Times’ price from 45p to 30p.

A letter sent by Robin Cook, Labour’s Trade and Industry spokesman, and signed by Ann Clwyd, Labour’s national heritage spokeswoman, asked the OFT to instigate monopoly reference to the MMC on “whether the dominant position of News Corporation and its subsidiary companies…is resulting in unfair competition.”
