Year on year comparison for the women’s weekly magazine sector show continued increases in the number of sales. During the January to June ’99 period net sales within the sector were up to just over 8.2 million. The total circulation of women’s weeklies increased significantly by 63%, although this was again due in part to the performance of OK Magazine and the fact that Bauer titles have come onto the ABC audit.
However, period on period the women’s weekly market didn’t fare so well with sales going down. The total market sold 216,899 copies less during this period, which worked out to a 2.6% decrease.
There was still no sign of Cabal Communications Crime Weekly, which was expected to launch in March/April.
