On-Line Business Service To Launch
An on-line business information service called News EyeQ today launches a trial beta version to test reaction before a general release next month.
News EyeQ is a joint venture between DataTimes Corporation and News International and will provide access to a database of some 6000 information sources from around the world. This includes a large collection of national and regional newspapers, newswires, trade journals, company financial information, market research, live share prices, exchange rates and market indices. The Windows-based service will be available via modem and PC.
The development of the service has caused friction between News International and the Financial Times because the FT runs a similar service called FT Profile. News EyeQ has been trying to get the FT included on its database but has so far been unsuccessful. News International now says that it will no longer co-operate with the rival FT Profile.
