ONdigital Commercial Director To Leave Just After Launch
Digital terrestrial television broadcaster, ONdigital, will lose its commercial director just after the service launches next month. Anthony Sethill, who joined in January (see Appointment Briefs), has announced that he will resign from ONdigital at the end of November, probably to move back into manufacturing. It is not clear whether he has another job to go to.
A spokesperson for the company told Newsline that its marketing campaign is now entering a new phase, one which is more purely directed at the consumer, and that is perhaps why Sethill has decided to leave at this point. “It would not have been possible to get where we are now without Anthony,” he added.
Sethill is to be replaced by Jim Ratcliffe, managing director of Granada Home Technology.
ONdigital is about to unleash the full might of its £90 million marketing campaign, but will be hard-pushed to create a stronger digital presence than Sky: the £100 million promo push has given Sky Digital a seemingly ubiquitous cross-media residence.
ONdigital is set to launch on 15 November. For a Newsline report on the key players in digital TV, click Television’s Digital Future.
