Online Kids Double In Twelve Months

The number of children aged between 2 and 17 surfing the Internet has doubled in the past twelve months to 4 million, according to a survey carried out by Jupiter Communications and reported in New Media Age.

The survey concludes that the “Kids Online” market is about to become commercially viable with users growing five fold to 20m by 2001. Jupiter believes that 1997 will be the year in which parents and schools will begin to provide mass Internet access and expects companies such as Hasbro, Mattel and Disney to launch kids’ services in the next year.
