The ITC received only one application for the local delivery licence of Consett and Stanley.
Telewest Communications Ltd was the sole applicant. The application proposes to start to offer service to homes in the Derwentside District in 1999 and to finish construction by the end of the year 2004. The cash bid is £1,000.
The ITC will consider the application in the usual manner and hopes to announce a decision by the autumn.
