Ooh Err Missus – Chris Evans Accused Of Smut

The Broadcasting Standards Council has upheld complaints against the Radio 1’s Breakfast Show. The Council found some comments made by Mr Evans unsuitable for a breakfast audience.
Two complaints concerned an offensive reference to a ‘shag’ during a skit on the television show ‘Countdown’ in the programme broadcast on 17 May. There was one complaint which concerned the ‘I’m in bed with my boyfriend’ slot on 27 April in which callers were asked to ‘read a poem whilst sucking their boyfriend’s lolly’.
The BSC upheld complaints over reference to David Seaman – the Arsenal goalkeeper – referring to semen on the lips. Complaints were also upheld after a caller spoke of ‘getting her head between his legs’ – referring to the ‘lolly’ item. The council did reject complaints about the use of mild swear words.
