Opus Gets Ready For Launch

GWR Group’s new sales operation, Opus, is getting ready to launch on January 1. The outfit will be based at Oxford Circus in London’s West End and handle sales for 40 local FM and AM stations and the national Classic FM.

The sales team will report to sales and marketing director Simon Ward and managing director Duncan George. Other senior executives are Classic FM sales director Giles Howard, GWR national sales controller Peter Charlton, agency group heads Rupert Garrett and Kerry Wilkinson and head of business development Dianna Ashenden.

Opus will also be launching two new products aimed at making the buying of radio airtime easier: Network Spot offers advertisers a single prime time slot across the GWR Group stations just before news bulletins while Radio Store is a direct response service where listeners are offered a range of lifestyle products. Apart from a number of geographical and demographic options, there will also be packages based around lifestyles.

In terms of prices, Opus will be categorising properties into four bands: large and demanded markets, medium sized markets, smaller stations and the AM properties.
