GWR’s sales house, Opus, has secured Cointreau for an extended sponsorship agreement across Classic FM.
The deal marks the second consecutive year that Cointreau has invested in Classic FM and includes on-air promotion, event sponsorship, activity in the Classic FM magazine and branding on the radio station’s website (see Opus Secures Cointreau Sponsorship Of Classic FM).
The on-air sponsorship will run from 15 September for three months on Classic FM’s Evening Concert, presented by Nick Bailey. The main off-air activity will see Cointreau become the official sponsor of Classic FM Live! at the Royal Albert Hall on 2 October. The station will also host a series of themed weekend concerts to reflect the qualities that inspire Cointreau drinkers.
The initial campaign will be supported by activity in the Classic FM magazine, which will see Cointreau sponsor the Evening Concert feature, as well as the CD on the front cover of the November issue.
Commenting on the initiative, Mickelle Levak from Opus, said: “It is great to see Cointreau and Starcom building on last year’s partnership. With this truly integrated solution, Cointreau has gained access to their audience by communicating with our listeners at all levels.”
The latest RAJAR results for the second quarter of 2003 show that Classic FM has seen its weekly reach decline by 1.7% year on year to 6,568,000. However, recent research from Opus revealed that listeners to Classic FM respond better to advertising than their pop music counterparts (see Classic FM Listeners Respond Better To Ads).
