GWR sales house, Opus, is to take control of airtime sales for the two London News Radio stations, News Direct 97.3FM and LBC 1152 AM. The stations, which will be sold in tandem by Opus, were previously handled by an in-house sales team at London News Radio. This sales team has now been incorporated into Opus’ operations.
The move is part of a broader restructuring at the radio group which is joint-owned by ITN (34%), DMG Radio (23%), Reuters (23%) and GWR (20%). As part of the new structure, ITN will now operate programming across both stations. Previously, ITN provided programming on News Direct whilst GWR handled the content for LBC.
Commenting on the changes, managing director at Opus, Duncan George, said: “The addition of the London News Radio audiences is perfect for Opus, complementing the upmarket audience of Classic FM and its new London marketing region.”
