Sharon Osbourne’s talk show once again struggled against Paul O’Grady’s return, with the X Factor judge taking less than half the viewers than Lily Savage’s alter ego on Friday evening.
Osbourne’s programme was watched by one million adults in the 5pm – 6pm slot, whilst O’Grady proved popular, taking an almost 20% share of the audience at the time (compared to Osborne’s 9.5%) with almost 2.1 million adult viewers.
The last episode of a dramatic week on Eastenders on BBC One was watched by more than eight million adults at 8pm, whilst Coronation Street on ITV1 at 7.30pm drew in 8.7 million adult viewers.
The Green Green Grass Of Home, the BBC One Only Fools And Horses spin-off, also performed well for BBC One, with more than five million adult viewers, against ITV1’s Airline, which managed almost four million adult viewers in the same timeslot.
Charlotte Church’s programme, which overlapped with Friday Night With Jonathan Ross by half an hour, struggled against the established BBC One star. Church’s programme on Channel 4 took just over one million adult viewers, whilst Ross managed 3.8 million.
The X Factor proved itself for ITV1 on Saturday night, taking 5.3 million adult viewers in its first instalment, and 7.2 million for its second instalment. Ant And Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway also performed well for the channel, being watched by 6.8 million adult viewers in the 7pm timeslot.
Sunday night was a good night for ITV1, with Coronation Street luring 8.6 million adult viewers, followed by The Royal, which took more than six million for ITV. The first Cracker for years followed, being watched by almost eight million adult viewers, a nearly 40% share, in the 9pm slot.
