Out-Of-Home Media Association Appoints Chairman

The fledgling Out-Of-Home Media Association (OOHMA) has announced the appointment of former POSTAR managing director Richard Holliday as its chairman. The new trade association is planning to publish its full charter at the end of this month.

The idea for the OOHMA was conceived in March by ambient media companies Alvern Forecourt Media, Shopfront Media, the Media Vehicle and Ticketmedia (see Out-Of-Home And Ambient To Form Trade Body). It claims to have widespread support from the advertising industry and the IPA Outdoor Group. Working closely with the existing Outdoor Advertising Association (OAA) it aims to develop trading standards and accountability within the sector.

Commenting on his appointment, Holliday said, “The [out-of-home] sector has come a long way and is beginning to bud. I am excited at the prospect of taking the sector further forward. A industry-wide Code of Practise is imperative. Thereafter accountability needs improving. Only when these have been addressed will we look at ways to promote the sector.”
