Five’s long-running CSI:Miami series secured the highest ratings during the all-important 9pm to 10pm slot last night with almost 4 million peak viewers.
The crime drama, which has performed consistently well for channel Five, attracted 3.7 million average viewers and a 18.1% audience share, putting it ahead of its rival terrestrial channels throughout the peak-hour.
At the same time, BBC One aired its own two-part crime drama – an episode from series seven of Waking the Dead, with Trevor Eve and Tara Fitzgerald.
The repeat pulled in a respectable 3.1 million average viewers and a 15.1% audience share, slightly above ITV1’s penultimate Ladette to Lady, which attracted just over 3 million viewers and a 14.7% share.
Elsewhere, BBC Two’s new one-off documentary, The Conspiracy Files: 7/7, which looked at conspiracy theories surrounding the London bombings ahead of the fourth anniversary of the attacks, picked up 1.4 million viewers and a 6.7% average share.
Meanwhile, Channel 4’s Dispatches: Terror in Mumbai failed to impress with just 754,000 viewers and a low 3.6% average share during the 9pm to 10pm peak-hour.
Earlier on in the evening, the soaps attracted lower-than-usual ratings, however, ITV1’s Emmerdale did manage to beat its BBC One rival to the top spot with a high of 5.8 million viewers compared to Eastenders‘ 5.6 million peak.
BBC One’s afternoon Wimbledon coverage, meanwhile, pulled in almost 2 million average viewers and a fairly impressive 23.1% audience share between 1.45pm and 6pm.
