Overnights: ITV1 wins the crime time ratings war

ITV1 stole the show once again when the it came head to head with BBC One’s Tuesday evening crime series last night.

Car Crime UK, which forms the second part of ITV1’s much-publicised new Tuesday evening crime show line-up, pulled in a high of more than 3.8 million viewers and a 17.4% average share between 9pm and 10pm.

Meanwhile, BBC One’s The Truth About Crime, with former Crimewatch presenter Nick Ross, attracted 2.9 million peak viewers and a 12.6% average share during the prime time slot.

Channel Five’s long-running CSI:Miami didn’t come far behind BBC One with a high of over 2.7 million viewers and a slightly lower 12.4% average share.

Channel 4’s Big Brother also managed to secure more than 2.1 million average viewers during the peak-hour, while BBC Two’s Desperate Romantics started off on a high of 2.3 million viewers but slipped down to an average of 1.9 million.

Earlier on in the evening, BBC One’s flagship dramas Eastenders and Holby City secured the highest ratings over ITV1’s You’ve Been Framed and Send in the Dogs, the first of its two consecutive crime programmes.
