Overture Signs Search Deal With BT Openworld

Search-targeted marketing company, Overture, has secured an agreement to provide pay-for-performance search results for BT Openworld customers.

The deal will see Overture provide search results to both BT Openworld’s business and residential customers, which total over 1.7 million.

Martin Child, managing director of Overture UK, commented: “The deal with Overture allows BT Openworld to supply highly relevant search results to their customers, giving users the best search experience.”

Overture also recently extended its search-distribution agreement with AOL Europe and will now provide search results to the Netscape Germany and Netscape France portals.

Nick Hynes, president and managing director of Overture Europe, said: “AOL Europe is an important European internet, online and e-commerce services business and its decision to broaden our relationship demonstrates the success of our strategy of offering the most relevant search results to users while also generating significant revenue for our partners.”

Recent research from web analysts, WebSide Story, has called the future of search targeted marketing into question, by revealing that the majority of internet users go directly to websites, as opposed to using web-links or search engines (see New Research Questions Search Targeted Marketing).

However, the industry recently received a boost recently, with research from the IAB and MSN revealing that three quarters of marketers intend to increase or maintain their online advertising budgets during the next six months (see Research Reflects Strength Of Online Advertising).
