Party At The Palace Draws 12.3 Million Viewers

BBC1’s coverage of Monday night’s Party At The Palace Golden Jubilee concert attracted an average of 12.3 million viewers, according to unofficial overnight figures from BARB.
The concert, which featured a range of artists including Phil Collins, Brian May and Sir Paul McCartney, averaged a 55.3% share of viewing between 7.30pm and 11.30pm. Audiences peaked at over 15 million between 11pm a 11.30pm, when performers joined McCartney on stage for renditions of All You Need Is Love and Hey Jude.
At its peak, the BBC’s Party At The Palace coverage attracted around 2 million more viewers than ITV1’s coverage of England’s World Cup 2002 debut against Sweden earlier in the day. The match which, which kicked off at 10.30am on Sunday morning, saw audiences peak at 13.04 million (see England Versus Sweden Attracts Over 12 Million To ITV).
