Pearl & Dean Acquisitions Means Share To Break 20%

Two of the UK’s independent cinema operators, Robins and Oasis have announced they have switched their contracts to the UK’s second largest cinema advertising company, Pearl & Dean. The UK’s largest cinema advertising company became Cinema Media in place of RSA last week.

Robins, the UK’s second largest independent cinema exhibitor has 32 screens, with more to be added, and Oasis control a number of art cinemas and are developing a new multiplex in Brixton.

The gaining of these contracts together with both Odeon and Apollo Leisure moving 3 cinemas each over to Pearl & Dean means that Pearl & Dean are set to break the 20% share for the first time since the mid-80s. This is also helped by the massive investment by Warner Brothers, which will double their number of Multiplex sites. Two such sites, in Croydon and Watford are opening in January 1996.
