Pearson Chief Executive To Be Made Dame
Marjorie Scardino, chief executive of Pearson will attend Buckingham Palace today to be made a dame in recognition of her services to media.
It is thought that the news of the honour for the only female chief executive of a FTSE 100 company was kept secret until now because Scardino is in the process of applying for UK citizenship. Having been born in the US and therefore not having a UK passport, she would otherwise only have been eligible for an honorary peerage.
