A report in today’s Financial Times suggests that newspaper publisher the Pearson Group is interested in buying ousted London licence holder, Thames Television.
Pearson also showed interest in Channel 5 last year when Thames was applying for the licence, but the ITC’s decision not to give it the go-ahead put an abrupt stop to discussions. However the publisher, which announced pre-tax profits yesterday of £150.8m (-16%), now reveals that talks have resumed at a high level and may result in a takeover of the independent production company.
