Pirates Target ITV Digital

Pirates Target ITV Digital

ITV Digital has admitted to a piracy problem, whereby users are avoiding paying more than a basic subscription by obtaining pirated smartcards in order to watch premium services.

Stuart Prebble, ITV chief executive, has acknowledged that the problem is there and has said that an investigation is underway.

Adam Singer, executive chairman of Telewest, has also expressed concern that his company’s subscription channels are being targeted.

The problem has continued despite reported raids involving police and trading standards officers and efforts to shut down websites offering information on piracy methods.
