The BBC has announced details of plans for Radio Five Live, the news and sport network radio station to launch on March 28.
There will be news on the hour and the half-hour, sports headlines on the hour and, on the half-hour a full sport summary. Two of the presenters will be Sybil Ruscoe, news presenter of Radio 1 and John Inverdale, current presenter of Sport on 5.
Jenny Abramsky, Controller, said, “We will build on the success of Radio 5’s sport…we will also expand the news Radio Five Live will have a flexible format so that it can cover news and sports stories as they happen.
Full details of the schedule are still being worked out, but Jenny Abramsky said, “Radio Five Live will be fun, it will take risks”.
GWR PROFITS
Wiltshire radio group GWR has released results for the year ending September 1993. Pre-tax profits were up 26% to £913,000, with advertising sales up 27% on the previous year.
