Plantin Promises Fewer Repeats On ITV

ITV network director, Marcus Plantin has promised that fewer programme repeats will feature in the network’s autumn and winter schedules in an effort to stave off competition from cable and satellite stations. Speaking at the Golden Rose television festival in Montreux, Plantin criticised BBC’s recent return to repeats on Tuesday nights claiming that it is having a “spectacularly bad run”.
The head of network claims that ITV’s new costume drama, Sharpe, drew in around 9 million viewers on Wednesday night (45% of total viewing audience) and Riders attracted an estimated 10 million.
