Pollard To Launch New Consumer Publishing Venture

The former editor of the Sunday Express and Sunday Mirror, Eve Pollard, is forming a new publishing company with intent to launch a series of new consumer titles. The new company, called Parkhill Publications, is being backed by venture capitalists Phildrew Ventures, and a range of fresh titles are expected to launch within the next twelve months.

Amongst the staff being recruited are people whom Pollard has worked with in the past. David Sinclair is to be editorial director at Parkhill (formerly deputy editor of the Mail On Sunday’s Financial Mail), and Les Wilson will be in charge of the picture team.

Anna Stewart, former Sunday Express executive editor, will also be on the Parkhill team, and it is also understood that the new publishing group has poached a couple of journalists from the Sunday Express.

Pollard, who also edited Northern & Shell’s relaunched and short-lived Chic last year (see Newsline), will be chairman of Parkhill Publications, and is also seeking new talent for the publishing venture. Although planned titles are being kept strictly under wraps, it is believed that the new titles will seek to explore a number of ‘under-exploited’ consumer markets.
