Premier League Rejects BSkyB Digital Proposal
The Premier League has rejected BSkyB’s initial proposal for extending its exclusive live coverage deal to the BDB digital terrestrial TV consortium.
BSkyB has a contract to supply a number of channels to BDB, including its sports coverage, yet its first offer is believed to be substantially below what the Premier League expected. It is rumoured that BSkyB wants to spend around £10m, with the Premier League looking for a figure more in the region of £20m.
It is, however, expected that an agreement will be reached in due course. Without sport, and to a similar extent movies, the chances of success for BDB will be severely reduced.
