Premier League Survey

The FA Premier League, in conjunction with Sir Norman Chester Centre for Football Research at Leicester University, has published the largest ever survey of football fans in the UK. The report – FA Premier League Fan Survey 1995/96 – is the third in the series of Premier League fan surveys. It reveals insights into the attitudes, concerns and profile of modern football fans.

The findings included:

  • One in five fans (19.6%) think football is better value for money than other sports; 44% think it offers the same value and 35.8% think it offers worse value.
  • Seven out of ten fans (70.2%) only watch Premier League football
  • Three quarters of fans (73.9%) believe that TV coverage of football has improved since the introduction of Sky TV – 18.4% think it is worse.
  • 67.6% of fans would be interested in subscribing to a TV channel for their club’s away matches – 23.8% are not; 57% of non-Sky subscribers would be interested.
