Premier, the UK’s only commercial Christian radio station, will launch its new sound on Monday 15th April. The station’s new programme schedule offers a stronger Christian identity including several new programmes. The move is a response to recent research undertaken to identify what Premier’s listeners want to hear.
Premier will offer more Christian music, reflection, bible study, worship and interviews with Christian celebrities and leaders. New programmes include The Alpha Course, a popular introduction to Christianity, presented by David Suchet and The Premier People’s Show, featuring a celebrity guest every week such as Sir Harry Secombe, The Drifters, Canon and Ball and GMTV’s Mr Motivator.
David Heron, Managing Director of Premier Radio commented: “We have undertaken comprehensive research over the last few months and have asked listeners what they do and do not want from a Christian radio station. We have also asked non-listeners what would encourage them to listen. The answers were surprisingly consistent: people want more distinctly Christian programmes giving an emphasis and Christian perspective on news and life issues that is not available on other radio stations. We are confident that our listener base will increase with the changes.”
