The Newspaper Society’s annual free newspaper conference will be held at the Swallow Gosforth Park Hotel, Newcastle, 2-3 September 1993. There will be speakers from the Advertising Association, Leo Burnett, Zenith Media and Lowe Howard-Spink.

Harpers & Queen has been redesigned for its September issue in an attempt to become more accessible. There will be less fashion; it will now share equal coverage with health and beauty, to make the magazine more contemporary.
Sports and Leisure Magazines is to relaunch New Cyclist as Cycling Today in September. The cover price for the monthly will rise from £1.95 to £2.25. The magazine will be targeted at more general readers who ride for pleasure and away from the more specialist end of the market.
