Profits Show Small Rise At CIA

Interim results at CIA Group show that turnover has increased by 17% to £444m, while pre-tax profits went up 2% to £3.5m. Client account gains of £152m (£110m in 1996), including Visa and Candy/Hoover across Europe, were also announced.

CIA is also expected to meet WPP executives next week to discuss areas of co-operation, though CIA is apparently still keen to retain its independence. The prospect of a takeover was raised in June when WPP bought a 14% stake in CIA (subscribers see WPP Takes A Slice Of CIA).
