Bauer’s music magazine Q has kicked off its recruitment drive by promoting editor Paul Rees to the role of editor-in-chief.
Rees, who has been editor for five years, will now be responsible for overseeing the multiplatform growth of the Q brand, “delivering world-class editorial” across Q magazine, radio, internet and events operations.
Q has also appointed Ian Stevens to the new role of creative director, joining the company from sister title, Empire magazine.
Stevens led the design team at Empire for more than four years and is set to start at Q on July 14 – the same time as Q‘s new front section editor, Mic Wright.
Stuart Williams, deputy managing director of BCM’s music and film brands, told the Guardian: “These senior appointments mark the first stage in the next era of Q.”
He added: “We are at a pivotal point in Q‘s history and this restructure is key to unlocking the huge potential that exists within the Q brand.”
This comes just two months after Q announced the appointment of former Press Association and Independent on Sunday journalist, Anthony Barnes, as online editor (see Q Radio Appoints Online Editor Ahead Of Relaunch).
Q is now looking to recruit a senior editor to lead the editorial team at the magazine on a day-to-day basis.
