The UK’s commercial radio industry body, RadioCentre, has revealed that total revenue figures for Q3 2007 have risen to £148,975,023, a year on year increase of 5.4%.
National revenue for the quarter saw an increase of 7.7% year on year to £81,565,266, whilst revenues for sales and promotions saw the largest growth rising 8% to a record £27,972,959. Local revenue for the quarter fell slightly to £39,436,798, a decline of 0.7%.
Andrew Harrison, chief executive of RadioCentre, said: “These revenue figures are another set of impressive results. 2007 really has been a turning point for the commercial radio industry – not only have we seen a record number of people tuning in but advertisers are really recognising the power of radio advertising.”
Simon Redican, managing director of the Radio Advertising Bureau, added: “On the back of another good set of RAJAR results in Q3 [and] a successful RAB conference last month… our industry is in great shape as we head towards the final quarter of the year.”
At the latest RAJARs, All Commercial’s weekly reach rose to around 32 million for the period with a share of listening of 43.3%.
All National Commercial was up 6.6% year on year in terms of weekly reach, whilst All Local Commercial was up 3.9% year on year (see BBC And Commercial Radio Enjoy Rise In Weekly Reach).
