Q4 Rajar Figures: London Stations
Total hours listened to radio in the London region has fallen for the majority of the commercial radio stations. For the second Rajar quarter in a row, Sunrise radio has recorded the biggest fall, down by 43.87% in comparison to Rajar Quarter 4 1995. The total hours listened to Sunrise Radio are 4.18 million for 1996 compared to 7.447 in 1995, showing a decrease of around 3.2 million hours.
Total Capital Radio’s weekly reach dropped 12.36% on the same period last year with a weekly reach of 3.4 million compared to 3.88 million in 1995. 95.8 Capital FM showed a loss of 7.34% on the same period last year. 963 Liberty (formerly Viva! 963 am) showed the greatest weekly reach increase within the London area with an increase of 66.1% on 1995. Melody also fared well with a weekly reach increase of 12.15% on last year as did Choice FM London which increased its weekly reach by 36.72%.
Other stations which did not fare too well include News Direct 97.3 FM (formely London News 97.3 FM) which reorded a weekly reach loss of 27.03%. LBC 1152 AM suffered a loss of 9.36%.
