Q4 RAJAR Summary – Breakfast Listening
While Chris Tarrant can still proclaim himself King of the Breakfast Shows in London, the success of Chris Evans’ Breakfast Show on Virgin’s AM and FM frequencies could be worrying for both Capital 95.8 FM and Radio 1.
The new team of Kevin Greening and Zoe Ball on Radio 1’s Breakfast Show added 400,000 listeners to take its total to 5.5 million, while the appearance of Chris Evans on Virgin Radio resulted in a 41% increase in the station’s breakfast listeners, taking its total to 2.26 million. This is an increase of 657,000 listeners.
Meanwhile, in London, Virgin’s Breakfast Show put on 153,000 listeners, up 33%, to 617,000. This is the first time Virgin’s morning slot has overtaken Radio 1’s in the capital. In London Kev ‘n’ Zoe brought in 602,000 listeners.
As reported earlier on Capital Claims Victory In Breakfast Listening Battle, Chris Tarrant’s Breakfast Show was listened to by almost 2 million people, an increase of 300,000.
