Question Mark Still Hangs Over Sky’s Football Coverage

It has been rumoured that BSkyB are preparing to show the England World Cup qualifying matches on pay-per-view *BSkyB Discuss Pay Per View Football.

Sky has neither denied nor confirmed the reports, although the broadcaster has issued a statement concerning radio rights: “To end the speculation, we would like to make it clear that all six matches in the tournament will be shown live on Sky Sports. Highlights have been sublicenced to the ITV network and the radio rights will be available to all UK radio stations, free of charge, in order to maximise our promotional push.”

If Sky decides to go ahead with its pay-per-view plans it could face opposition from Tony Banks, the new minister for sport. *Subscribers only
