QVC, Britain’s only television shopping channel has announced another record breaking quarter, with net sales for Q1 1996 at an all-time high of £13.9 million, a 97% increase on the same period in 1995.
During the quarter, QVC gained 98,000 new customers, answered 1.5 million calls and shipped 796,000 items. On Sunday 3 March, QVC set a new high for gross orders, over £600,000 in one day; gross orders for one hour reached £100,000.
Marck Suckle, Chief Executive of QVC UK, commented, “Our net sales record is even more impressive when you consider that we beat our existing record set during our last Christmas selling season…The public no longer thinks of TV shopping as extraordinary, but as a convenient part of life.”
