QVC has announced that fourth quarter net sales for 1995 reached an all-time high for the channel of £13.7 million, representing an increase of 73.4% on the fourth quarter 1994, when QVC recorded net sales of £7.9 million. QVC also added over 100,000 new customers in the period.
During the fourth quarter, QVC answered 1.4 million telephone calls and shipped 800,000. On 28 November 1995 QVC took 25,000 orders, the highest number ever recorded in one day.
Last October QVC launched QCut, an automated method of ordering via touch-tone phones which now accounts for 20% of calls answered.
Mark Suckle, Chief Executive of QVC UK said, “The enormous potential of TV shopping in Britain has been recognised by QVC. The number of new customers we attracted during 1995 – especially in the fourth quarter – is clear evidence of the appeal of television shopping with QVC.”
