RA Awards Two New ILR Licences
The Radio Authority (RA) has announced that it has awarded a new Independent Local Radio (ILR) licence to Chelmer FM (Mid Essex Radio Ltd.) after considering proposals from seven other applicants.
The station will provide a service of news and informative speech of local relevance for the community across part of mid-Essex. It will also feature wide-ranging music of “popular appeal”.
The transmission will cover the towns of Chelmsford, Witham, Danbury, Maldon and South Woodham Ferrers. Chelmer FM can be contacted at:

An ILR licence has also been awarded to Champion FM (Marcher Sound Ltd.) which will serve the town of Caernarfon and the surrounding area. This is one of the few remaining areas in the UK which does not currently receive any ILR service.
Around 75,000 adults should be able to receive the new service which will offer a ‘broad, bilingual format’ of current and classic hits for 25-54 year olds, along with local news, sport and community information. Champion FM can be contacted at:
