Radio 1 – Minority Station
Gary Davies, Radio 1 disc jockey, announced last night that he was leaving the station at Christmas, four months before the end of his contract. He is the latest disc jockey to leave, following Simon Bates and DLT. He was said to be upset at the decision to axe his night-time weekday slot.
He predicted that in five years Radio 1 will be a minority station with no listener loyalty unless the station suddenly reverses its policy.
Jakki Brambles, who hosts the lunchtime show also announced yesterday that she will be leaving, to run a production company in the US.
