Radio 106 FM Wins East Midlands Licence
The Radio Authority has announced that Radio 106 FM has won the new regional ILR licence for the East Midlands.
Radio 106 FM will broadcast a broadly even mix of speech and melodic music targeting an audience aged 30-54 to an area which includes the cities of Leicester, Nottingham and Derby. More than 1.5 million people will be able to tune into the new service.
As reported on *Twelve Stations Apply For East Midlands Licence in May, twelve stations had applied for the licence including Choice FM, Heart 106 FM and Kiss FM.
…The winner of the new Greater London FM licence will not now be announced until January, the Radio Authority has confirmed. This is due to the fact that a public interest test will have to be carried out regarding some of the applicants, notably Capital Radio and London News Radio (proposing the London Business and Sport station).
