Radio Ad Specialist Appoints Park As Chairman

Radio advertising specialist Radio Works has appointed well known industry figure Stan Park as its new company chairman.

Park brings over 20 year experience to the newly created role, having most recently worked as the commercial director for travel news provider, Traffic Link. Prior to this he held a number of high-profile roles within the radio industry, including managing director of Independent Radio Sales and commercial director of European broadcaster, CLT.

Radio Works is an independent company that provides a one-stop-shop for advertisers and agencies across all UK radio stations.

Commenting on his appointment, Park said: “Now with increased numbers of stations, a dozen points of sale and with agency networks seeking better profitability, the role of the radio specialist has come of age. I look forward to helping the company with its ambitions.”

Managing director of Radio Works, Michael Charnley-Heaton, added: “We’ve never been in a better position to move the business to another level and there are certainly exciting times ahead.”

The commercial radio industry is currently challenging plans to give Ofcom the power to regulate the amount of advertising on local radio. In an attempt to protect the content of local radio following the relaxation of the media ownership regulations, the Government is proposing to give the new super-regulator the power to determine how local radio stations generate their revenue (see Radio Industry Outraged At Plans For Local Advertising).
