Radio Authority – 24 New Commercial Radio Licences

The Radio Authority have announced their plans for new commercial radio licences, including advertising 5 new regional stations, and 19 local licences in the next two years.

The areas advertised will be Yorkshire, East Midlands, Greater London, East of England and Solent. These will be advertised in 2-3 month intervals starting in November 1995 – for the Yorkshire licence – through to October 1996 for the Solent licence.

On the future of local licences, the Radio Authority has said that once progress has been made in advertising licences for areas already proposed, the Authority will aim to review its development schedule and add further areas to its working list at that time for future advertisement.
